Remote Computer Support
Not every computer problem needs a visit. A lot of software problems, from email that has stopped working to a printer that won’t print, can be fixed over the internet while you watch. I’m Marc Wannenmacher, a computer specialist based in Robina with over 25 years’ experience, and remote support means I can help you even if you’re outside my onsite area.
How it works
- Send me a text on 0403 261 661 and tell me what’s going on. It’s the quickest way to reach me, and no question is a silly one.
- I’ll send you a link to a secure remote-access app. You run it and read me the code it shows.
- With your permission, I connect to your computer. You see everything I do on your screen.
- When we’re finished, the session ends and I can’t connect again unless you start a new one.
What I can fix remotely
- Email, Outlook and account problems
- Software that won’t install, update or start
- Slow computers, pop-ups and unwanted programs
- Printer and scanner setup
- Settings, updates and general “how do I…” questions
If it turns out to be a hardware fault, such as a failing screen, battery or drive, it will need hands on the machine. If you’re in my onsite area, I’ll book a visit.
Is remote access safe?
Yes, when it’s someone you contacted. The danger is scammers who ring or pop up a warning pretending to be Microsoft, your bank or your internet provider and ask to connect to your computer. If someone you didn’t contact asks to connect to your computer, just hang up and give me a call. I’m always happy to check for you. If you’ve already let them in, read my page on virus and malware removal.
Cost
Remote support is charged at the same hourly rate as my onsite work, with the same one hour minimum. There’s no travel involved, so remote help is often the quickest way to get you going again. Send me a text and I’m always happy to talk you through the cost before we start.
Windows PCs and Macs
I support both Windows PCs and Macs remotely, anywhere in Australia. All you need is an internet connection.
